But who is Julie Manet, to whom the Marmottan Monet museum in Paris is currently devoting an exhibition? First the daughter of Berthe Morisot and Eugène Manet, therefore the niece of the painter Édouard Manet . Then, the model of this family of artists, extended to Degas and Renoir. Julie Manet also paints. Having become the wife of Ernest Rouart, a pupil of Degas, she collected works from the 18th and 19th centuries, which she hung near the canvases brought together by her family. She also became a patron, donating masterpieces by Daumier, Corot and Manet to the Louvre . Finally, she defends the memory of her mother and her uncle. It is therefore all these facets that the museum evokes in a beautiful display of around a hundred works.
